TV shows and lack of innovation
So NBC has introduced a new show to their lineup, "America's got talent." It is a show in which people do anything that they consider a talent in the hopes of wining a million dollars. The judges all have options to end the performance by pressing a button which lights up an "X". Three "X"s and the performer has to stop in the middle of the act.
Sounds like a good idea....but is actually carried out in a dull manner.
First of all the 3 judges are Brandy (Paula Abdul imitator), David Hasselhoff (Randy of the show), and Piers Morgan (Simon Cowell wanna-be). This is the same exact setup as American Idol (no coincidence since Simon Cowell is the executive producer of the show). We have one female who is too nice and wants to give everyone a chance. We have a moronic judge who doesn't do anything except listen to the other judge's opinion. And finally we have an hardass, who not only does not recognize talent, but also likes to stir up controversy artificially.
The host, Regis Philbin, is a tad bit better than the likes of Ryan Seacrest. However in essence we have American Idol on NBC.
So far I think we can agree that the judges suck and the host is acceptable.
Now as for the show? We are forced to watch commercials after every one or two acts. The commercials are short, however they are very frequent. We are forced to watch people sing and dance. HEY PRODUCERS, GET THE MESSAGE: AMERICAN IDOL AND "So you think you can dance" have ALREADY BEEN DONE!
Do something original. Entertain me. I am sick and tired of all these annoying tv shows where all people do is sing and dance. There should only be one TV show for that specific thing, we dont need 5 variations of American Idol.
How about changing it up a little bit? How about letting people vote based on their opinion, not because of the sarcastic and crude comments from untalented judges such as "At first, I hated you. But after a while, I liked it". I mean what kind of comment is that? You are to be judging the act, not the performer.
Clearly networks will try and throw anything at us and switch it up a little bit. In essence, we have the same show, with similar judges, and a SLIGHTLY different storyline.
America I am sick and tired of these lame ass tv shows.
I am annoyed with the fact that networks even AIR these stupid shows the way they are.
It is about time we get a TV show with a nice concept PLUS some talented judges. Simon Cowell should go back to doing American Idol and thats it.
I give this show a 20% chance of making it to a second season, unless some improvements happen soon. (By the way, the show is not aired LIVE, atleast not at the current stage)
